The hard part, already done

This is what a single company’s accounts look like when they arrive, and what they look like once we’re finished. The gap between the two is the product.

What you get

net_assetsemployeesfhs
4129002472 · Good

Typed, consistent columns. One clean row per company per year. A health score attached. Multiply by 5.9 million.

A financial-health grade on every trading company. Included.

Anyone can hand you numbers. We hand you a read on what they mean. Every trading company carries a Financial Health Score— 0 to 100, higher is healthier — computed from its latest filed accounts; dissolved and insolvent companies carry their status instead. It is bundled into every paid dataset at no extra cost — a consistent, ready-made read of each company’s accounts, so you do not have to build one.

Where the grade comes from

It combines four long-established, published models of a company’s financial condition — Altman, Springate, Beneish and Piotroski — and the method is documented in full. Not a black box: a transparent, consistent read of the filed accounts, so you can see exactly what goes into every grade.

It is a backward-looking read of the filed accounts — distinct from our forward-looking Early Warning Score, which is not part of this dataset.

What it lets you do

  • Screen a whole sector for the strength of its balance sheets in a single column.
  • Segment a portfolio, shortlist prospects and sense-check suppliers against one consistent read of their filed accounts.
  • Rank and segment thousands of companies instantly, with no model to build.
ExcellentGoodFairPoorCritical

Each grade is a balance-sheet condition, not a forecast — Excellent is strong solvency and liquidity; Poor is thin or negative equity and stretched liquidity. Every score also carries where it sits in the market: a 91, for example, is healthier than 92.1% of active UK companies. Dissolved and insolvent companies carry their status, not a grade.

Why teams license it instead of building it

Skip building the pipeline

Companies House publishes accounts as raw iXBRL. Turning that into a clean, consistent table is months of specialist work. We have already done it — for the whole country.

Checked, not just scraped

Every figure is range-checked and the records de-duplicated to one clean row per company per accounting period. You inherit the data-quality work, not a dump you have to audit.

Fifteen years of history

Millions of companies come with 5 to 15 years of parsed balance sheets. Trend, trajectory and covenant analysis, ready to load — not a single flat snapshot.

Delivered to your stack

CSV or Parquet, a published schema and data dictionary, checksums on every file, dropped to your bucket or a signed link. It lands in your warehouse, not behind someone else’s login.

What every record looks like

Clean identifiers, the balance-sheet fields, and the health score — one tidy row per company per accounting period.

We tell you exactly what’s filled

This is a balance-sheet dataset — because that’s what UK companies file. Most file small-company accounts with no profit-and-loss by law, so we don’t pretend to have turnover we don’t. Here is the real fill rate, measured across every filing — you see it before you buy.

Net assets96.4%
Total assets less current liabilities76.6%
Current assets74.5%
Total equity69.4%
Cash at bank49.9%
Employee count43.2%
Current liabilities26.9%

Need turnover and profit? That exists for the ~589k larger companies that file full accounts — ask about the premium dataset below.

Enterprise providers charge tens of thousands a year for a seat in their tool. We license the data itself — into your hands, at a fraction of the price. Every paid dataset includes the health score.
